Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor for a journalist as well as a commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV situated in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by the year 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992 and was also the Chief International Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the show. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was the previous chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a broad range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-contra case and tax reform. She traveled with Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to summits around the world and covered extensively.
